The entrance into the kitchen is smooth and flawless. At least it is for Arako who has his feet firmly on the ground when they arrive. He makes the sudden transition from moving fast through the shadows to suddenly standing in a different room as easy as he would step out of one room and unto another. His arm is still around Amaya and tightens just a little bit as they emerge into the kitchen. He gives her a little twirl to help absorb her momentum for her so that when he sets her down she will find her feet eaisly. He lingers his arm around her for a moment more and grins down at her, simply enjoying her presence pressed against his.
The dead girl on the floor a few feet away only hinders his mood a little.
Drazio gives his master a moment to impress his lady friend before speaking up, also giving her time to be impressed. Or to pretend not to be, but who isn't impressed with Arako Nakmarr?
"Her throat was ripped out. Violently." The ambassadors' servent lies dead on the floor. Drazio squats near her, inspecting the body. He has rolled her over to get a better look. There is blood everywhere.
Thankfully Amaya was used to sudden changes in momentum from her time spent flying with her brother. Spinning lightly on one foot as Arako twirled her, she gave a brief laugh, amused by the move. Settling again with easy grace, she looked up to smile at him a moment. "I always did love to dance." To the detriment of her poor father's sanity. Then again, they had been at the clothing optional festivals for those. Shrugging the thought away, she glanced to Drazio as he spoke before examining the body. "I assume the voice box has been taken?" That had happened to the false siren upstairs, so this one should have suffered a similar fate.
Breaking away from Arako gently, she trailed her fingers along his hip before walking over to where Drazio and the body were and crouched, heedless to the blood. Resting her chin in her hand, she examined the wound with cool disinterest for anything that might give her a clue about the type of device used to steal the siren's voice box. This human has quite a pair on him. I'll have to see to it that Shin knows to remove them. Her lips quirked briefly in amusement at the thought as she considered. "The culprit is moving about with the aid of a pixie. Is there anyone sensitive to light magic here that we might use to help us track his movements?"
Arako is not a detective. He likes to watch people dance and to figure out the whys of what they do, but he's not so much concerned with the how of things. The murderer is annoying. He doesn't like people to be killed at his party without his permission first. No one has asked her permission. The dead siren on the floor isn't going to be any fun now and the murderer isn't here, so he can't be any fun. His only current source of fun is Drazio and Amaya, but he'd rather the three of them be doing something else that is more fun. That first murder interrupted something fun that was going to happen and he'd like to get back to that. “You should take your clothes off before asking me that.”
It took a moment for Arako's words to register. As they did, Amaya turned to look at him with an arched brow. Is he serious..? As entertaining as she found the idea, now wasn't exactly the time for that. She considered briefly. Refusing was her first instinct. First, because the situation at hand was far too serious for such frivolity. Second, because she didn't want him to think that she would pander to all of his whims. But, she was forced to admit, without his cooperation in the matter, finding the killer would be much more difficult. And she was here to have fun, not to work.
Huffing out a sigh of brief irritation, she rose to her feet and slid the straps of her dress from her shoulders. The thin silk whispered against her skin as it fell to the floor around her feet. Stepping out of it, she pushed it aside with one foot. "Now then. Is there anyone here sensitive to light magic that could track a pixie's movements?" Her arms crossed as she shifted her weight to one side.
Arako did not really expect Amaya to remove her clothing. He makes such suggestions all the time and most don't follow them. Her dress of course falls into a pool of blood, it's everywhere, hard to miss. This was a messy kill. Arako briefly wonders why the siren didn't just sing the killer into submission. Maybe she was caught off guard somehow? His mind doesn't linger on those thoughts long though as he watches Amaya undress. A grin spreads across his features and he takes a moment to drink in her sight, looking her up and down as if committing all of her parts to memory. He's already thinking of fun things to do to all those parts. This does make the crime scene more interesting. He leans back against a table that was behind him, half sitting, half leaning on it. He takes a lot longer than needed to answer, but then she gave him something to distract his mind from the task at hand. He's got two hands and he knows what to do with them. He still can't believe she actually took her clothes off. Still no dagger. Interesting.
“Zarvan easily. Or well.... me.” He gives a little helpless shrug and playful grin however as he finishes, “but they are cloaked from me, even in my own realm.”
Drazio also did not expect Amaya to remove her clothes, but he's seen people follow his master's orders with little second thought so he's not as surprised as Arako. Of course she would do as he asked, why wouldn't she? He looks up at Amaya and watches her as well, but gets the backside view of her. He is not ashamed to stare. He remains in his squatting position. His master's words distract him from the naked girl. He's seen many naked girls, especially here in this manor. “They use a device of some sort to hide?” His tone makes it clear. He can't believe any light could hide from his master in this place without extra magical help.
Frowning, Amaya considered Arako's answer and Drazio's interjection. The fact that she was doing so in nothing but silver lace panties didn't seem to bother her. Giving her hair a toss, she began to walk back and forth near the body, heedless of the blood beneath her feet. "It would stand to reason that he has something to help cloak him. That will make it more difficult." Ah, what to do, what to do. How to capture a culprit so skilled at hiding? "If it weren't for the fact that Nick needs him, I'd put my brother to this. He has a talent for finding elusive rats.."
Arako watches Amaya as she moves. He watches every flex and relaxing of her muscles as she paces. She has just the right amount of healthy meat on her. He doesn't like boney girls or skeletons. He seems as bothered by things as Amaya is to be mostly naked in his kitchens while pacing through a trail of a magical creature's blood. "Let's put him on it then. I'll send someone else to go hold Nick and Shin can hunt the killer while you and I go remove the rest of our clothing."
Amaya scarcely pauses at her pacing, looking at Arako from the corner of her eye. "As much as I want to tie you to your headboard and ride you until you're hoarse from screaming, this has to take precedence. I can't enjoy myself if I'm too busy wondering when I'm going to have to look at another thrice damned corpse. It kills the mood." After all, the killer could decide to strike at the pair of them while they're occupied with each other. Amaya has no intention of lowering her guard like that. This dragon has plans of ascending and gaining more power, not getting her throat ripped out in the middle of a good time, thanks all the same. A sudden twinkle lit her pale eyes as she stopped, turning to face Arako. She was starting to get a bit hungry.. "I wouldn't mind eating this ballsy little human's heart.. Fitting punishment, I think.."
Arako just remains leaning against the table and watching Amaya. He likes her fervor. He also likes her suggestion of what to do to him. He doesn't mind being tied up one little bit. “Human? Are we sure it's only a human? Must be some powerful device then? Or the pixie is doing all the work.... Maybe more than one pixie? They like to work in colonies. But a human heart won't do you any good, just taste bad. You should eat the pixies instead.” He looks thoughtful for a moment trying to remember if there was a pixie on his guest list for this party. He can't recall one off the top of his head, but the city is full of them, so it's possible one was brought in as a date or a servant.
"Oh, it's not the taste I want. It's the example that doing it will set." A bloody lesson tended to leave a far more lasting impression, after all. Still, he was right about the flavor. Humans were notoriously disgusting in both flavor and texture. "I saw only a single human. That doesn't mean there aren't more, but I get the distinct impression that it's only this one. More than one pixie, on the other hand.. Well that would certainly explain our difficulty." Giving her hair another toss over her shoulder, Amaya tapped her lower lip in thought. A colony of pixies could prove problematic. Problematic, but delicious. "Do you think they would taste good dipped in chocolate?" she asked almost absently.
“Only one way to find out.” He can't help but grin. He has heard of creatures that devour other creatures for show or to obtain bits of the essence of those they eat, but he's never really gotten into that habit himself. Neither his father's race nor his mother's race are creatures designed to eat others in such a manner. Though maybe if he dipped something in chocolate or cooked the heart first... It's a thought for another time. For now he'll let Amaya have what she wants and will continue to do so until such a time it conflicts with what he wants. “So how do you plan to find them, if sensing for magic isn't working?”
"How indeed.." Turning, she resumed her pacing with a thoughtful look. "Hm.. Using my brother as a focus.. And drawing power from Grandfather's fang.. I could attempt a divining. Of course, I've never tried locating something hidden by an entire group of pixies before. It could be interesting to see if I can do it." Shin's power would greatly amplify her ability of foresight, and with Tanek's fang still in her heart.. That just might be enough to find him. Maybe. No real way to know until she tried.
"Ah, the eagerness of youth. Sometimes I wish I could get that back." He won't say how old exactly he is, but there is only one in his manor right now that can equal him, and neither of them have found this pixie. But then he doubts Zarvan has tried. Or will try. "But for argument sake, let's say I am stronger in shadow than you are in anti pixie matter and that light magic stands out to me like a glaring single star in the night sky. How then will you proceed?" This is starting to become fun again to him. Watching her mind work and figuring out how she's going to make the others dance for her. He does so love to watch people dance. A great circle with the right casters could work and they have enough people here to make it work. They brought Zarvan across the dream realm, they could probably find the killers and their device. If Nykolas were up for it. His mind starts going over the guest list in his head for people to help power a circle. He also decides to send a quick message to Trish. He isn't sure where Amaya's mind is going to go on this, but he's trying to stay ahead of her now. It's become a game. "Psivesi e ra'vh a'ph nyi koiiln raeln pha's Amaya. Otrh zsaeni aet zyen lyi daekyn tiiv." He still watches Amaya even as he speaks to Trish. Let her think he's trying to speak to her in demari.
Amaya gave Arako the courtesy of her full attention as he spoke, listening with an almost quizzical look. So they were playing what if games, were they? Thanks to her earlier visions, she had a fair idea of just how much power that he could possibly still be hiding. She gave him a sweet smile. "Then I would wonder, my dear Arako, at just why you're allowing this human to shatter the rules of your realm with such impunity. Surely a saroas such as yourself would be able to locate a single human, yes?"
Arako grins at her use of words. How cute, she's fishing. He has to think about what he wants to say next and how he wants to say it. He also knows he has to be careful because of the Veritas. He'll be compelled to speak the truth and to say things he might would otherwise keep to himself. Not even his inner circle know how truly old he is or where he really comes from.
On one hand he is enjoying the fun the killer is stirring up. On the other, he doesn't like his guest being killed. “I already looked. I can't find them. I saw the flashes of light magic when the caster went off and when the pixie did her thing, or the device was used, whatever made that. And then we were asleep when they did this,” he gestures toward the poor dead siren. He wasn't rising to her pride bait as she had hopped he would, but the sooner they solve this the sooner they can get back to what they were doing before Nykolas was shot.
Amaya can't help but to smile in turn. I do love playing against a well matched opponent. Though it did mean that whatever was hiding the killer was extremely skilled in the shadows. That thoughtful expression crossed her face once more as she began to consider other options. Which meant that in all honesty, she either needed to unleash her brother, or use him as a focus for a divining. Given how angry he was over Nick being shot, well... The problem might just take care of itself if she let Shin off his leash. "Take away his pendant and use my own magic to buffer him, and maybe.. I should be strong enough to act as a filter for him.."
Arako is normally very secretive and elusive, especially when it comes to his own motives, but the Veritas affects even him. It was the only way to ensure it can affect everyone, make sure no one can be immune. And it's more fun this way. “I could do a lot more than I am. That little trick upstairs didn't take as much out of me as everyone thinks. But I'd rather sit back and watch you work. See how you solve this issue.” Other guests have peeked their heads into the kitchen where they see the mostly naked Amaya, the dead siren girl, and the bloody footprints of Amaya pacing around the body. Arako doesn't look at them at all. Drazio glances at them briefly and then back to Amaya amused, as if he too is waiting to see what she'll do next.
An amused quirk of her brow is Amaya's response to his declaration. Turning to Arako, she chuckled quietly. "What I'm going to do, dear Arako, is find the one responsible for interrupting our fun and see to it that my brother has a good meal." She smiled sweetly at him for a moment before taking one last look at the body. Once she let her brother loose, well.. Things could get rather messy in a hurry. "I need a quiet room to work in, one where I won't be disturbed. I also require my brother as soon as possible."
"Pick whatever room you'd like and I'll have someone guard the door so no one bothers you. I'd offer my room, but then we'd have to move Nykolas, and having just met the boy, I'm not sure how well he'd take that in his condition. How big of a room do you need? Will yours not do?"
"I need a room large enough to accommodate a drake the same size that my brother was earlier in the hall," Amaya replied. Her nose wrinkled briefly. Changing forms was so tedious. But doing so would allow her better access to her full power than this form would. "And a guard would be appreciated. I don't want to be interrupted from my task."
