Arako is done with his breakfast with Trish and her random guest she'd found to play with well in time to get dressed again to meet Troy. He returned to his chambers and had a small table set up with an actual breakfast and several drinks of choice, not only because he wasn't sure which ones he wanted when he called for them but also to give Troy a selection. His chamber door is open to be inviting, and the bed has been cleaned and made by the servants while he was out. There are no traces of blood or other activities. Even the smells are gone as the bedding has been changed completely.
Arako sits in a chair that faces the door so he'll see his guests arrive as soon as they get there. The breakfast he has laid out before him is a simple one and very elf like to keep the pretense up. There is toast and different jellies and spreads to put on the toast, there are some poached eggs, and there is a small variety of fruit already sliced or cubed depending on the fruit. Three plates have been laid out, but no one yet sits at the other two, they are for Deosinet and Troy. He could have pretended he didn't know they were coming, but he figures that would insult Troy's intelligence and not a good way to start a relationship. He'd rather take control, but Deosinet has promised to be allies and not masters so for now he'll hold to that deal. It'd be too tiresome to be master over everyone you meet anyway, sometimes you just have to make friends instead.
The time since his meeting with Deosinet had been given over to preparing for later. Once the requested ingredients had been delivered to his room, Troy had wasted little time in creating a rather large dose of the counter to his father's mind controlling drug. Better a large dose than one that was too small, after all. Once that had been prepared, he busied himself with creating a set of enchanted ink with the remainder in order to prepare a binding spell for when the trap was sprung. While he was confident that his antidote would work, Troy also wasn't fool enough to think that he stood a chance against one of the Terrata without a lot of preparation, assistance, and luck.
The various vials tucked away inside his vest, he whiled away the rest of the hour on the balcony, smoking and considering. Dealing with Arako would be treacherous at best. But the end goal would be worth it. If it saw Karelai to freedom, then he was willing to do what was needed. Pulling a pocket watch out, he made note of the time and stubbed his cigarette out. Exhaling a final cloud of smoke, Troy began to make his way toward Arako's room. Not much longer, Karelai.
Arako has placed and illusion on the door so that if anyone other than Troy or Deosinet happen to stop by for some Nakmarr party fun, it will appear as if Arako is not there. No one is there and the door is locked. The illusion gives a very distinct feeling that no one is there despite not being able to see into the room. When Troy appears in the doorway Arako smiles in a warm and friendly manner and gestures the boy inside and then to pick one of the two empty chairs. Despite facing the door, neither of the other chairs truly has it's back to the door but are at angles with it, facing Arako so both equally have their backs to the chamber door. “Join me, won't you?”
Troy paused at the threshold of the door, looking into the room. His gaze swept over the table and breakfast before he slowly entered. He wasn't entirely comfortable, but he had struck a bargain. And if this would help accomplish his goals, then it would be worth it. Moving to the table, he took the seat to Arako's left and settled himself comfortably. "I assume Deosinet will be joining us shortly?" There was much to discuss and still preparations to make if they were to spring their trap. Little doubt that his father was beginning to take notice of his continued absence and would want to investigate.
“Is he?” No one asked Arako to meet them, they just assume he was going to be here and waiting. He is, but maybe he'd have had somewhere better to be and less clothes to be worn while being there. Though his tone and his smile make it clear he is joking. Little happens in his manor without him knowing about it. “But come. Sit and have some breakfast with me. Then you can tell me what you desire of me and I'll tell you if I desire to give it, or what extra my involvement might cost.” He gives a little shrug at the last of his own words. Normally he'd have held those back for later in the meeting, but Veritas. Nothing is free though and he knows Troy is smart enough to realize that himself.
There was always a price to be paid. Troy was well familiar with such dealings. Folding his hands, he rested his chin on them as he studied Arako. He didn't learn much, the man had a poker face to put his own to shame. He might have preferred to have another presence there. Then again, that might also serve to complicate matters further. Perhaps this was best after all. "I'm certain you already know everything I've told Deosinet. So then, you'll have to forgive me if I simply cut to the chase. I believe the servant accompanying my father is one of his Terrata. I intend to try and subdue him, then test a counter to the drug my father uses to control them. If successful, I hope to use this man as a means to locating where Father is hiding the rest of them so that I can free them from his control."
Arako takes a bite of breakfast off his plate and motions for Troy to make himself a plate and start eating as well. He does not seem in a hurry to rush their business along, nor does he seem like he's stalling. He's just enjoying breakfast while they talk. Troy is not unpleasant to look. Arako has a natural allure that makes him attractive to those that would be so normally and just makes him seem charming to those that are not attracted. It's not a racial trait, but was added through more complex magics out of a simple desire to have such a thing. Though his bearing is that of a typical noble. He has good posture and good manners most of the time. His cerulean eyes mostly meet the gaze of whomever he's speaking to and his smile is genuine. He sincerely loves the company of others and has interest in what they say. Though sometimes he's playful and his eyes wander and he pretends to be bored. Sometimes he really is bored. He is not bored right now with Troy however.
“And you want to lure the assassin here so that if things go awry I can do the subduing for you?” It's a rhetorical question, he already knows that is what they want. He pauses long enough to take another bite an then move a slice of melon over onto his plate. “There are nosy dragons about and I wasn't planning on showing off anytime soon, so what do I get in return?” He looks up from the melon he just moved to his plate to meet the gaze of Troy and await his offer of payment.
Deosinet enters the room about the time Arako is taking his second bite. He, like Troy, sees the door as open and inviting when everyone else sees it as locked and closed. Shadow magic excels in illusions and other magics that hide intended purposes and anything else the caster wishes to hide. He'd heard Arako speaking right before he entered the room and realizes they have already covered a good deal of the conversation without him. This does not slow him down or give him pause. He makes his way over to the third chair and seats himself. He looks up at Arako upon the comment of dragons and then starts to fill his own plate with breakfast things. He smiles at the poached eggs, Arako knows those are his favorite. He takes one of the eggs and then starts to pick out a jelly for his toast. The serving platters are enchanted to keep everything warm. So many amazing things in this manor, it's so hard not to pocket a few in the hopes Arako doesn't miss them.
At least he got straight to the point. Troy could certainly appreciate as much in a business dealing. His gaze flicked to Deosinet as the other elf entered the room, bowing his head minutely in greeting, before he returned his attention to their host. What was he willing to pay to see Karelai freed? Dangerous question, that. "I would promise anything. Sadly, there are many things not in my power to give. So. Should you help me in this endeavor, I offer the only things that I truly own." His eyes fixed steadily on Arako's face as he spoke, no hint of hesitation in him.He was willing to do whatever was necessary in order to help his half sister and her friends. "I would offer my skills with alchemy, with enchanting, and my body if you should so desire."
Arako looks over at Deosinet with an amused and curious look, “you didn't tell him how to seal a deal with me?” He grins a little at Deosinet's answer and then looks back at Troy. He sets his fork down and leans back in his chair. “So you have nothing to offer? I'm already an alchemist and...” He trails off and looks away for a moment and then returns his gaze to the boy. “Skills. Maybe those could be of use in the future, but not just yours.” He sits back up straight again, never taking his bright blue eyes off Troy, “For every member of the Terrata you free and for yourself, I will be owed one favor to be paid by the one who owes to the one that is owed,” he puts a hand over his chest to indicate himself, “at a future date and need of my choosing.”
Deosinet doesn't really need to be here, as this deal they are making now is between Troy and Arako. He is here to know the details and his part he will have to carry out. He smiles a little when Arako inquires about the lack of informing Troy how to seal a deal with their host. “I thought you'd like that pleasure for yourself.” He listens to the rest without word or interruption. He guessed Arako would help them, but there is always a chance he guessed wrong. Arako is a hard one to predict, the mad ones often are.
The blond listened quietly to Arako's terms, his expression never betraying his irritation. It had been worth a shot. "I can only promise you my own cooperation. I will, of course, impress upon Karelai and her companions that a debt is owed, but I cannot promise you anything beyond that. Only a fool uses coin that isn't his to spend." And he'd little idea of what to expect of any of them. Or even if their sanity was still intact enough to allow them to bargain at all. "Should it prove necessary, then I will carry the debt of anyone who refuses."
“Let's not underestimate the gratitude of the Terrata if you were to help free them.” Deosinet offers in hopes that Arako will still take the deal with such little offer of payment. Or maybe Troy would be enough, he'd basically own the boy if he agrees to this deal.
“Generosity given freely is always taken for granted. The payment must be worth the deed and given in advance.” He replies in response to the Shadow Leader.
”You're not interesting as the Terrata are. You have nothing to bargain with.” Arako suddenly sounds bored. He leans back in his chair again and gives a little flourish of a wave at Deosinet, “You may continue to aide him if you wish, but I got people and drugs to do.”
Unbidden, a chuckle escaped from the blond. Bringing a hand up, he tried to cover it as it turned into a full out laugh, shaking his head. As his amusement faded, he simply smiled. "Then we've nothing more to discuss. If you'll excuse me then, I do have more preparations to make and others to speak to. A shame, that you don't think me so interesting. I'm certain that Karelai and the other Terrata might feel otherwise once I gain them their freedom." Pushing his chair back, he gave a brief half bow, still clearly amused with the entire situation. He'd never really thought that Arako would help him in the endeavor. But there were others yet who still might.
"Perhaps the dragons might find my proposal more.. interesting." Troy inclined his head slightly to Deosinet before he turned to leave the room, chuckling once more under his breath. If Arako had no interest in helping the man who would hold the unwavering loyalty of beings as powerful as the Terrata.. Well, there was really no help for that. And it certainly wasn't his concern.
Arako would have still helped, he was just trying to negotiate but realizes now that negotiations is not one of Troy's skill sets. He wonders what skill sets the boy does have, since he offered them all, but didn't list them. He watches Troy get up and walk out with a little bit of a surprised and amused look. The boy didn't seem so certain the Terrata would repay the debt until he was throwing a tantrum and storming out. People who can go from uncertain to certain as it suits them tend to have more buttons than regular people. He waits a beat, until Troy is out of audible ear shot. He might still hear that Arako is speaking to Deosniet, but not what they are saying, “Impatient people are such fun aren't they?”[/b[ He has no sarcasm in his voice, it's an honest belief of his. Not that the Veritas in the air would allow for sarcasm anyway. “I think I'll go speed up his time table.” Arako stands and drops the napkin from his lap and onto the breakfast table. Then he steps back into a shadow portal and offers a playful wink to Deosinet right before he too leaves the room.
Deosinet can't help but sigh when Troy leaves. They should have gone with his original idea of just picking the fight in front of Arako without warning him first they were going to do it. He'd still have known by listening in through the shadows, but wouldn't have tried to up the ante. Deosinet agrees with Troy and still intends to help in the hopes the Terrata will be grateful to those that help them. To all those that help and not just Troy alone. Though part of him fears Arako is correct and they'll only be grateful to Troy and no one else. He gives his host a dubious look at the comment about impatient people. Just because the boy doesn't know how to deal with Arako, doesn't mean he's impatient. The next comment their host makes has Deosinet also rising and dropping his napkin back onto the breakfast table, then chasing after Troy to try and warn him. It might be vanity, but he's hoping if he's there, Arako might still step in and help if nothing more than to keep Deosinet safe.
